Minnesota Crookston Equestrian Falls 15-0 to UC-Davis

DAVIS, Calif. – The University of Minnesota Crookston equestrian team was defeated 15-0 by the University of California Davis at the UC Davis Equestrian Center. The Golden Eagles fall to 0-4 in NCEA meets for the 2022-23 season.

In fences, UMN Crookston picked up strong rides from Keira Boedigheimer (So., Colorado Springs, Colo.), and Julianna Gullo (Fr., Itasca, Ill.). Boedigheimer fell narrowly 74-69 to Sierra Gundersen on Calida. Gullo had a close competition, but fell 77-70 to Carly Sweeney on Ronan.

In flat, the Golden Eagles were led by Gullo, who was narrowly defeated by Gundersen 64-63 on Ovation. Josie Mills (So., Brandon, S.D.) also had a strong ride but fell 72-67 to Marin Gilliland on Stakky.

The Golden Eagles had their best showing of the day in horsemanship. Belle Sand (So., Aberdeen, S.D.) guided UMN Crookston as she earned a tie on Thirty-Nine, scoring 72.5-7.5 against Jordan Schween. Olivia Becker (Sr., Deer Park, Wis.) was inched out by Natasha Replogle on Bella. Ashlyn Montague (Fr., Draper, Utah.) also had a very close match-up with Malena Palmer, but fell 72.5-71, as did Rebecca Clark (Sr., Austin, Minn.) on Allen. She fell 74.5-71.5 to Maddie Gregory.

The Golden Eagles also had close rides in reining. Macey Newkirk edged Becker 67-64 on Comacho. Clark was inched out by Amber Nusser on Hank 71-66.5. Montague fell in a close competition to Lauren Langbaum 70.5-68. Kendal Scheiner slightly edged Sand out 68-66 on Trevor.

The Golden Eagles return to action at 12 p.m. C.T. Friday, February 3 at Fresno State University.
