Minnesota Crookston Hunt Seat Equestrian Wraps Up IHSA Slate at Zone Finals

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The University of Minnesota Crookston hunt seat equestrian team had three riders compete at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone Championships April 8 in Springfield, Mo. The riders were competing for a chance to advance to the IHSA National Championships May 3-6 in Harrisburg, Pa.

“It was a great way to round out the IHSA season,” said Head Coach Kayla Krueger. “We made so many improvement this season as a team and individually. We are very excited to see what is in store for the 2018-19 season.”

The Golden Eagles put forth strong rides across disciplines but were unable to advance to the next level. Selena Young (Jr., Plymouth, Minn.) place fifth in Individual Equitation over Fences. Young had a great round as she held her own in a very competitive class. Megan Motter (Jr., Cooperstown, N.D.) finished eighth in Novice Equitation over Fences and fifth in Intermediate Equitation on the Flat. Motter experienced a few bobbles during her fence round, but was able to perform well on the flat with a great effort. Amanda Olson rode very well at her first ever Zone Finals. She finished four out of 10 in Walk Trot. Olson has excelled in riding from day one on the team and has a lot of promise moving forward in her young riding career.

The Golden Eagles wrap up the season at the NCEA National Championships April 18-21 in Waco, Texas.
