The Corta-Flx® Sport Horse of the Week Award Goes to Laura Graves and Verdades At the Adequan® Global Dressage Festival

Wellington, FL (March 3, 2017) Corta-Flx®, an official sponsor of the Adequan Global Dressage Festival, will be honoring horses who exemplify exceptional fitness and soundness with the Corta-Flx® Sport Horse of the Week Award throughout the remaining weeks of the prestigious competition. Recently, the company presented its first award to U.S. Olympic bronze medalist Laura Graves’ horse Verdades after the pair posted the amazing score of 80.240 percent in the Grand Prix CDI-W.

Rising dressage star Laura Graves’ horse Verdades was presented with the award after scoring another 80-percent ride—a rare and significant accomplishment in dressage Grand Prix competition.

Graves and her mount Verdades (Barn name “Diddy”) – a 2002 Dutch Warmblood gelding (Florett AS x Liwilarda) – have been training with Olympian Debbie McDonald since 2014. That year, the duo entered the 2014 national championships and subsequently became reserve Grand Prix champions, earning them a ticket to the World Equestrian Games in France. The pair has since amassed quite an impressive track record competing in the top levels of the sport, including helping the Olympic team win a bronze medal in 2016. Currently, Graves and Diddy stand 5th in the world on the FEI World Dressage Rankings.

When asked what she likes the most about Verdades, Graves gushed with admiration. “He never says no. And even if something is difficult for him, he’s going to try it. He is going to give 100 percent – and that’s when he’s tired and exhausted. When he is fresh, he gives you 500 percent, and sometimes he’s a little too ambitious. That’s why I wouldn’t trade him for any other horse.”

As to her future plans, Graves remarked, “We want to qualify for World Cup (in Omaha, Nebraska) and we will see where it takes us from there–maybe to New Jersey, maybe Europe. The big goal is to have Diddy ready for the 2018 World Equestrian Games. So we just have to be strategic. He has nothing to prove. It’s a question of keeping him healthy.”

Celebrating it’s 20th anniversary this year, Corta-Flx® was pleased to present Graves’ horse with the award and will continue to present the honor to other riders who go the extra mile to keep their horses healthy and happy in and outside the show ring.
