Young Horse and Rider Pair Takes Home Blue Ribbon and Vita Flex Victory Pass Award at Colorado Horse Trials
Parker, CO (August 29, 2016) – In their debut eventing competition together, Lauren Jost and WT Dragonfly surged through the August Colorado Horse Park Horse Trials to capture the win in the Junior Beginner Novice division. Jost navigated the five-year-old Holsteiner mare “Dragonfly” successfully through her first cross country phase at the Parker, Colorado show grounds to take home not only their first blue ribbon together, but also the Vita Flex Victory Pass Award.

Jost was granted the ride on Dragonfly by the mare’s owner Alexia Honegger, who operates her farm Millbrook Equestrian in Parker, Colorado. Honegger purchased the horse in utero from Wild Turkey Farm. “I actually had her half sister and loved her so much that I called the owner of Wild Turkey Farm and said, ‘Whatever that mare puts on the ground I will buy,’ and that was Dragonfly,” said Honegger.
Dragonfly proved her ability early on when she earned the honor of being the highest scoring North American mare at the 2014 American Holsteiner Horse Association Inspections. She also was the champion of her division in the 1.0m jumper classes at this year’s Colorado Horse Park Summer in the Rockies.
With Jost aboard, Dragonfly’s future career seems to be angled towards pursuing the three phases. “She loves cross country, and has won awards for her movement— so we are gearing her up for a career in upper level eventing,” Honegger said.

Jost competes with her own Thoroughbred gelding in eventing competitions at the Novice level in hopes of gaining experience and moving up to Training level by the end of the year. Jost said, “We schooled the water jump, and she was not really 100 percent sure about it, but as soon as I pointed her at the jump on course, she went for it.”
