Minnesota Crookston Equestrian Falls 13-3 to South Dakota State at ECAC Championships

BROOKINGS, S.D. – The University of Minnesota Crookston equestrian team fell 13-3 to South Dakota State in the first round of the ECAC Championships Thursday, March 23 at DeHaan Equestrian Center in Brookings, S.D. South Dakota State advances to play the University of Tennessee Martin.

In fences, the Golden Eagles were propelled by Keira Boedigheimer (So., Colorado Springs, Colo.) who defeated Samantha Hunsecker, 144-143 on Joey. Alex Pfaffenbach (Jr., Appleton, Wis.) narrowly fell to Rachel Darby, 155-151 on Fendi.

In flat, Boedigheimer fell to Hannah Steele 146-138 on Enrique. Pfaffenbach had a strong ride on Mia, but fell 136-127 to Hunsecker.

In horsemanship, Olivia Becker (Sr., Deer Park, Wis.) picked up a 139-133 win on Milo over Paige Wellendorf. Ashlyn Montague (Fr., Draper, Utah) had a close contest with Shelby Cochran on Mick, but fell 144.5-140.

In reining, Becker picked up the win on AR over Adisyn Kuxhaus 135.5-132. Belle Sand (So., Spicer, Minn.) had a strong showing on Clyde against Isabelle Riggs, falling 142-135.5.
