RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The University of Minnesota Crookston equestrian team competed in a pair of IHSA jump seat meets Saturday, October 29 and Sunday, October 30 in River Falls, Wis. The Golden Eagles earned high point team accolades Saturday, with Kristen Borchert (Fr., Coon Rapids, Minn.) earning high point rider nods. Sunday, UMN Crookston claimed reserve high point team honors, while Borchert was reserve high point rider.
Borchert picked up a first-place finish in limit fences and a second-place finish in limit flat Saturday, on her way to high point rider laurels. In open fences, Alex Pfaffenbach (Jr., Appleton, Wis.) took first, while Keira Boedigheimer (So., Colorado Springs, Colo.) claimed fourth. In intermediate fences, Gabriella Siefkes (So., Aberdeen, S.D.) took first, while Alexandra Wentland (So., Colorado Springs, Colo.) finished fifth.
In open flat, Boedigheimer had a strong ride to finish second, while Pfaffenbach took fifth. In intermediate flat, Wentland took second, while Siefkes placed sixth. In limit flat, Borchert took second, while Jessica Vinger (So., Dodgeville, Wis.) finished sixth.
In novice flat, Faith Retzlaff (Fr., Columbus, Wis.) had a strong ride to take second, while Isabella Abbas (Fr., Tea, S.D.) finished fifth. In pre-novice flat, Kayle Hines (Fr., Oconto Falls, Wis.) took second in section one. In section two, Jada Schimke (Fr., Maple Grove, Minn.) rode to a first-place finish, while Ashleigh Lueder (Jr., Rochester, Minn.) took second.
In introductory flat, Christina Fiedler (Fr., Burtrum, Minn.) rode to a first-place finish in her section, while Kiana Matejcek (Fr., Hunter, N.D.) took fifth in her section.
The Golden Eagles looked to continue their great rides into Sunday’s show. In open fences, Julianna Gullo (Fr., Itasca, Ill.) had a great ride to take first, while Josie Mills took third. In intermediate fences, Siefkes placed fourth, while Wentland took fifth.
In limit fences, Borchert continued her strong weekend by taking second. She took first in limit flat to help claim reserve high point rider honors.
In open flat, Gullo placed fourth. In intermediate flat, Siefkes took second, while Wentland finished sixth.
In novice flat, Abbas took third in her section. Schimke had a strong ride to take first in her section, while Lueder placed second.
In pre-novice flat, Delainey Lancaster rode to a third-place finish. In introductory flat, Matejcek took fourth in her section, while Fiedler placed fifth.
The Golden Eagles will host a pair of home meets Saturday, November 12 and Sunday, November 13.
