Minnesota Crookston Competes in Western Meets

CROOKSTON, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston equestrian team hosted a pair of IHSA meets Saturday, October 22 and Sunday, October 23 at Charles H. Casey Equine Arena at the University Teaching and Outreach Center in Crookston, Minn.

Minnesota Crookston was guided by a first-place finish on the first day from Rebecca Clark (Sr., Austin, Minn.) in Level II Horsemanship. Olivia Becker (Sr., Deer Park, Wis.) took second in Open Reining for the Golden Eagles. Zoey Haas (Jr., Farmington, Minn.) finished second in Level I Horsemanship for UMN Crookston after a strong ride. Hannah Heins (Fr., Rochester, Minn.) finished third in Level I Horsemanship in her first IHSA meet. Grace Meyers (Sr., Fairmont, Minn.) took third in Rookie B Horsemanship.

Fahren Kolpack (Jr., Ontonagon, Mich.) placed fourth in Open Horsemanship on day one for the Golden Eagles, while Belle Sand (So., Spicer, Minn.) placed fourth in Open Reining. RaeAnna Danielson (Fr., Harris, Minn.) took fourth in Level II Ranch Riding in her first-ever IHSA meet. Kassidy Kalka (Fr., Cottage Grove, Minn.) finished fourth in Rookie B Horsemanship in her first-ever IHSA meet.

Becker took fifth in Open Horsemanship. Danielson finished fifth in Level II Horsemanship, while Jenna Seibert (Fr., Sebeka, Minn.) and Hailey Schlotfeldt (Fr., Luverne, N.D.) both finished fifth in Beginner Horsemanship, competing in their first-ever IHSA meets.

Sand placed sixth in Open Horsemanship. Ashlyn Montague (Fr., Draper, Utah) took sixth in Open Reining in her first-ever IHSA meet. Clark finished Level II Ranch Riding. Eliza Freund (So., Cando, N.D.) took seventh in Rookie B Horsemanship.

Minnesota Crookston showed improvement on day two of their home meet. UMN Crookston had three first-place finishes. Freund took first in Rookie B Horsemanship after a strong ride. Meyers also took first in her class of Rookie B Horsemanship, while Seibert took first in Beginner Horsemanship in her second meet of her collegiate career.

Montague had a solid ride to take second in Open Horsemanship. Sand had a second-place finish in Open Reining on day two.

Brooke Hoven (Fr., Ankeny, Iowa) placed third in Level I Horsemanship in her first-ever IHSA meet.

Becker placed fourth for the Golden Eagles in Open Horsemanship.

Clark and Danielson both took fifth in Level II Horsemanship in their respective sections. Haas finished fifth in Level I Horsemanship. Kalka placed fifth in Rookie B Horsemanship, while Schlotfeldt took fifth in beginner horsemanship.

Kolpack placed sixth in Open Horsemanship, while Ashton Wold (Sr., Devils Lake, N.D.) took sixth in Open Reining. Clark finished sixth in Level II Ranch Riding, while Bethanie Gravelle (Fr., Aitkin, Minn.) took sixth in Level I Horsemanship in her first-ever IHSA meet.

Danielson placed seventh in Level II Ranch Riding.

The Golden Eagles compete in three North Dakota State University meets November 18, 19, and 20 in Fargo, N.D.
