FELTON, Del. – The University of Minnesota Crookston equestrian team opened the 2022-23 NCEA slate with a 13-3 loss to the University of South Carolina at the Dovington Training Center in Felton, Del.
Minnesota Crookston picked up two points in Horsemanship Friday. The Golden Eagles were guided by a 70-0 win for Belle Sand (So., Spicer, Minn.) over Kendalyn Herlocker. Olivia Becker (Sr., Deer Park, Wis.) defeated Alyssa Jipping 70-69.5.
In Flat, Julianna Gullo (Fr., Itasca, Ill.) defeated Madeline Schaefer 54-0 on Denali.
In Fences, Keira Boedigheimer (So., Colorado Springs, Colo.) had a narrow loss on Cici to Natalie Jayne 88-83. Gullo fell 86-74 to Alexa Aureliano on River, while Alex Pfaffenbach (Sr., Appleton, Wis.) was defeated 80-70 by Schaefer on Tillie.
Josie Mills (So., Brandon, S.D.) had a narrow loss to Jayne on Maverick in Flat 74-66.
In Horsemanship, Ashton Wold (Sr., Devils Lake, N.D.) had a very narrow loss 70.5-70 to Kiersten Beckner on Ellie Mae. Ashlyn Montague (Fr., Draper, Utah) also had a narrow loss 71.5-66 to Alexa Thorpe on Brady.
In Reining, Sand had a close match-up with Claire Pound on Wally 68.5-67. Becker faced a 69-66.5 narrow loss to Emilia Reutimann on Chili. Wold also had a narrow loss to Chloe Stephenson on Boots 68-64. Montague also faced a tough 71-67.5 to Emma Lane on Waldo.
Minnesota Crookston continues their NCEA slate Saturday, September 24 at 9 a.m. against Delaware State University.
