Poles in the lead in the eventing Nations Cup

The home team took the pole position after a demanding cross-country in the third leg of the FEI Eventing Nations Cup during LOTTO Strzegom Horse Trials. Second place belongs to the Netherlands, and third to Austria.

After a brilliant beginning in the dressage, the Austrian team was short on luck today in the XC. Lea Siegl had an unlucky fall and the other riders had some time faults to add to their scores. That meant that a door has opened for the home nation, after great rounds by Małgorzata Korycka with Canvalencia and Joanna Pawlak with Fantastic Frieda. But the hero of the hour was the last to go in the Polis team – Mateusz Kiempa, who is the author of the best cross-country on today’s course. Him and Libertina went clear on the fences, just six seconds over the optimum time. He is therefore still the individual leader, both in the CCIO4*-S and the Polish National Championships. – “It was a great round today, the horse jumped fantastic. Libertina was really fast and reactive. It was my plan to go as fast as possible and I think it worked out well!” – said the rider. The fourth athlete in the home squad is Jan Kamiński aboard Jard.

Austria’s Dr. Harald Ambros lies in second with Lexikon 2, and third for now belongs to Janneke Boonzaaier (NED) with ACSI Campbelle WS, going up from the 6th after dressage.

Saturday’s cross-country has shuffled the leaderboard in the CCI4*-L, the most demanding class of LOTTO Strzegom Horse Trials. The new leader is Jonelle Price (NZL) with Faerie Magnifico. After a clear round today, Switzerland’s Robin Godel went up into second with Global DHI. The dressage leader Tim Price (NZL) with Polystar I sits in third.
In the 3*-L the best result now belongs to Sweden’s Louise Romeike with Caspian 15 and she is also second with Commando 3. In the 2*-L, Dutch rider Jullian Giessen secured her lead with a clear round aboard Newmarket Ritz.

The leader in the junior 2* class is still Belgian Max Thual with QC Rock And Roll. In the 3* rivalry for young riders, Karolina Ślązak (POL) tops the leaderboard with Ganges.
Saturday’s jumping trials in the 2* and 3* short format classes have not brought any changes into the lead. Louise Romeike (SWE) is still the best in the CCI2*-S with Extravagance, and Lara de Liedekerke-Meier with Freya des Concessions will go into tomorrow’s XC as the leader in the 3*-S.

Sunday is showjumping day for the most important classes, including the Nations Cup and the Polish Championships.
