CROOKSTON, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston equestrian team will compete in a pair of meets with South Dakota State University and University of Georgia at the DeHaan Equestrian Center in Brookings, S.D. Friday, February 18 and Saturday, February 19.
The Golden Eagles are 0-2 in National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) matches this season, as they competed against South Dakota State and Texas Christian University (TCU) earlier this season. South Dakota State is 2-5 on the season, while Georgia comes into the weekend with a 4-3 record. The Bulldogs were ranked No. 4 in the most recent Top 10 Dual Discipline Team Rankings by the NCEA.
Minnesota Crookston has been led in Reining by Ashton Wold (Jr., Devils Lake, N.D.), who had a win over TCU earlier this season. In Fences, Keira Boedigheimer (Fr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) captured a win versus South Dakota State. Minnesota Crookston was also represented earlier this season by Clara Lemarr (Fr., Sleepy Eye, Minn.), Taylor Barlage (Sr., New Prague, Minn.), and Morgan Schelske (Sr., Zimmerman, Minn.) in Fences and Flat. In Reining and Horsemanship, Wold, Olivia Becker (Sr., Deer Park, Wis.), April Klecker (Sr., Amboy, Minn.), and Belle Sand (Fr., Spicer, Minn.) competed against TCU and South Dakota State.
South Dakota State last competed in an NCEA match November 21 with a 6-3 victory over Sweet Briar College. They have wins over Minnesota Crookston and TCU.
Georgia last competed February 4, earning a 7-3 victory over Sweet Briar. They also have wins over University of South Carolina, Southern Methodist University (SMU), and Fresno State University. Georgia won the 2020-21 NCEA National Championship.
