CROOKSTON, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston western equestrian team had a strong home meet Sunday, October 24 as they took Reserve High Point Team honors. The Golden Eagles were led by Beatrice Streifel (Sr., Hawley, Minn.), who was the Reserve High Point Rider.
UMN Crookston had a successful show Sunday after finishing just behind Reserve High Point honors in Saturday’s season opener at Charles H. Casey Equine Arena.
The Golden Eagles started out Sunday morning with April Klecker (Sr., Amboy, Minn.) taking third in the Reining. UMN Crookston set a strong tone in Ranch Riding as Tristyn Bair (Sr., Winnebago, Minn.) had a great pattern to take first, followed by her teammate Streifel in second.
In Open Horsemanship, Olivia Becker (Sr., Deer Park, Wis.) paced the Golden Eagles with a second-place finish, while Belle Sand (Fr., Spicer, Minn.) took fourth, and Klecker finished fifth.
In Level II Horsemanship, Streifel continued a strong day by taking second, with Bair finishing sixth.
In Level I Horsemanship, Ashton Wold (Jr., Devils Lake, N.D.) led the way with a third-place finish in her section. Fahren Kolpack (So., Ontanagon, Mich.) and Rebecca Clark (Sr., Austin, Minn.) each had fifth-place finishes in their sections.
In Rookie B Horsemanship, Eliza Freund (Fr., Cando, N.D.) placed third for the Golden Eagles, while Zoey Haas (So., Farmington, Minn.) took fourth, and Savanna Weber (Sr., Silver Lake, Minn.) finished fifth.
In Rookie A Horsemanship, Grace Meyers (Jr., Fairmont, Minn.) led the Golden Eagles with a first-place finish, while Taylor Opitz (Fr., Sioux Falls, S.D.) claimed sixth.
In Beginner Horsemanship, Jenna Pedrow (So., Blaine, Minn.) had a first-place finish in her section, while Hannah Fitzsimmons (Jr., Barnum, Minn.) took first in her section.
The Golden Eagle western equestrian team will compete in an NCEA meet with Texas Christian University in Brookings, S.D. Saturday, October 30.
