The strong placement ends a great season for the team as they captured the 2019 IHSA Regional Championship in order to advance to Illinois.

The Golden Eagles will still have an individual moving on to the IHSA National Championships May 2-5 in Syracuse, N.Y., as Selena Young (Sr., Plymouth, Minn.) will round out a fantastic career by competing in Open Flat.

In the team competition, Anna Woidyla (Fr., Swanville, Minn.) led the way by winning her class and taking first in the Team Walk Trot. Katherine Buttolph (Fr., Yankton, S.D.) placed fourth in Team Novice Flat for the Golden Eagles.

Morgan Schelske (Fr., Zimmerman, Minn.) put together a strong ride and took third in Team Intermediate Flat, while Katie Orth (Fr., Randall, Minn.) finished third in Team Walk Trot Canter.

Young placed third in Team Open Flat to round things out for the Golden Eagles. Minnesota Crookston was strong on the flat at the Zone Championships as they tallied 31 points in the flat portion of the competition.

Minnesota Crookston also had several individuals competing at the IHSA Zone Championships. Rebecca Eicchorn (Fr., West Bend, Wis.) road against a very strong field and took ninth in Individual Walk Trot. Buttolph placed sixth in Individual Walk Trot Canter for the Golden Eagles.

Kayley Melton (Fr., Yuma, Ariz.) rounded out a great first year in the Maroon and Gold by placing a strong third in Individual Open Flat. Young brought it home for the Golden Eagles by extending her final season for the Golden Eagles and taking second in Individual Open Flat to qualify for the IHSA National Championships.
