Lexington, Ky. – US Equestrian is pleased to announce the 2019 U.S. Saddle Seat Young Riders Coaching Team. Coach Christy Parker (Brunswick, Ga.) and Assistant Coach Mary Mag Wilson (Cave Creek, Ariz.) will work together in coaching the 2019 U.S. Saddle Seat Young Riders Stars and Stripes Teams. The Stripes Team will compete at the 2019 U.S. Saddle Seat Invitational Test Event on May 2-3 in New Orleans, La., against teams from South Africa. The Stars Team will compete at the 2019 U.S. Saddle Seat Invitational Test Event on October 31 – November 2 in Las Vegas, Nev., against Canada.

Parker has over 25 years of experience teaching, training, and coaching. She is the instructor of multiple saddle seat equitation champions and U.S. Saddle Seat Team members. She served on the coaching team for the 2017 U.S. Saddle Seat Young Riders Stripes Team and is a USEF R Judge, UPHA Chapter 17 Chairperson, and serves on the ASHA Marketing Committee Riding and Youth Council.

“I’m very excited to coach the 2019 Young Riders Teams. The team members are very diverse, experienced, and talented,” said Parker. “I love the team camaraderie and international format behind the Invitational Test Events and can’t wait to get to work!”

Wilson is the owner of Mary Wilson Show Horses where she trains competitive Arabian, Half-Arabian, and Saddlebred show horses and coaches individual clients at the national level. Wilson was a member of the 2013 U.S. Saddle Seat Young Riders Team where she competed in the U.S. Saddle Seat Invitational II, helping the team to gold medal-winning finishes.

“It is such an honor to be representing the U.S. as an assistant coach after being a member of the inaugural Young Riders Team in 2013,” said Wilson. “I look forward not only to working with this talented group of young athletes, who are the future of our saddle seat breeds, but developing a thriving team alongside Coach Christy Parker.”

The U.S. Saddle Seat Young Riders Teams are supported by grants from the USA Equestrian Trust. Additional contribution opportunities can be found by visiting http://www.usef.org/donate. Select U.S. Saddle Seat Young Riders in the dropdown menu.
