Minnesota Crookston Jumping Seat Equestrian Earns High Point Team Honors for Second-Straight Day

RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The University of Minnesota Crookston jumping seat equestrian team built on a great first day at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls as they claimed a second-straight High Point Team accolade Sunday, October 17. The Golden Eagles were guided by Alexandra Wentland (Fr.) claiming High Point Rider accolades.

“It was an awesome weekend for Golden Eagle Equestrian,” said Head Coach Kayla Hanson. “This team has certainly put the hours in and it paid off this weekend. Jumping Seat will be one to watch this season, strong contenders for Zone and National participation.“

Minnesota Crookston opened up with a great finish in Open Fences. Morgan Schelske (Sr., Zimmerman, Minn.) took first on Keeno, while Taylor Barlage (Sr., New Prague, Minn.) took second on J-Lo and Clara Lemarr (Fr., Sleepy Eye, Minn.) placed third on Zeus.

In Intermediate Fences, Buttolph placed second for the Golden Eagles while riding Kingsley.

In Limit Fences section one, Wentland started her day by placing first on Lambeau. In section two, Katie Orth (Sr., Randall, Minn.) took third on Zee.

In Open Flat, Schelske had a strong ride to finish second on Zeus, while Barlage took third on Mo.

In Intermediate Flat, Buttolph placed third on Austin, while Josie Mills (Fr., Brandon, S.D.) took sixth while riding Zeus.

In section one of Limit Flat, Orth placed first on Charlie, while Wentland continued a big day taking first in section two on Austin.

In section one of Novice Flat, Madison Winemiller (Fr., San Diego, Calif.) placed second on Axel. In section two, Kaitlyn Fedewa (Jr., Cambridge, Minn.) placed third on Charlie, while Alex Pfaffenbach (Jr., Appleton, Wis.) claimed fifth place.

In Pre-Novice Flat, Samantha Strader (Fr., Winsted, Minn.) took fifth on Ajax. In Walk/Trot, Ashleigh Lueder (So., Rochester, Minn.) placed fifth on Suzie.

The Golden Eagle western equestrian team will host home meets Saturday, October 23 and Sunday, October 24 at the Charles H. Casey Equine Arena.
