Golden Eagle Hunt Seat Equestrian Bound for Illinois for IHSA Zone Championships

CROOKSTON, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston hunt seat equestrian team will compete at the IHSA Zone Championships Sun., April 7 at Cliffwood Farm in Richmond, Ill.

The Golden Eagles are competing as a team after winning the Regional Championship in Crookston, Minn., earlier this season. Minnesota Crookston is looking to continue a historic season as a team. The Golden Eagles also have several records competing as individuals for an opportunity to advance to the IHSA National Championships May 2-5 at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, N.Y.

Mazie Pini (Sr., Grayslake, Ill.) will compete in Open Fences for the Golden Eagles. Kayley Melton (Fr., Yuma, Ariz.) will ride in both Intermediate Fences and Open Flat. Selena Young (Sr., Plymouth, Minn.) will compete in Open Flat. Katherine Buttolph (Fr., Yankton, S.D.) will ride in Advanced Walk Trot Canter, while Rebecca Eichhorn (Fr., West Bend, Wis.) will compete in Walk Trot.

A send-off will be held for Minnesota Crookston at the Prairie Lounge on campus at the University of Minnesota Crookston Fri., April 5 at 9:30 a.m.
