Ackroyd and Drayna Compete at IHSA Semifinals in New York

HAMBURG, N.Y. – University of Minnesota Crookston western equestrian riders Cathy Ackroyd (Sr., Spirit Lake, Iowa) and Madeline Drayna (Fr., Milaca, Minn.) competed March 25 at the IHSA Western Semifinals at the Showplex at Hamburg Fairgrounds in Hamburg, N.Y.

Ackroyd completed in Open Horsemanship, where she put together a strong pattern but fell short of call backs, which are extended to the top eight riders in the class. Ackroyd’s strong career at U of M Crookston comes to a close after winning her class of Open Horsemanship in the IHSA Regionals in order to advance to the IHSA Semifinals.

Drayna competed in Intermediate Horsemanship for the Golden Eagles. She also put together a strong ride, but fell short of call backs, as well. Drayna also had a strong season for Minnesota Crookston, taking second in the IHSA Regionals in Intermediate Horsemanship. Drayna has a promising future on the horizon as she still has three years left to compete for the Golden Eagles.
