Announces 2016 High Goal Tournaments

CARPINTERIA, Calif. – December 21, 2015 – Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club announces a full-throttle summer high-goal schedule of four prestigious and historic tournaments: the Belmond El Encanto Polo Classic (July 8-10), USPA Maserati Silver Cup (July 15-24), USPA Nespresso America Cup (July 29-Aug. 7) and the Gulfstream Pacific Coast Open (Aug. 12-28).

Club president and Lucchese team owner John Muse stated, “As a club we are focused on providing the best fields possible for the incoming high-goal teams. We have made a lot of improvements in the polo clubhouse to enhance the atmosphere and added increased spectator viewing with new grandstands, more cabanas and a new polo lounge at midfield to bring even more excitement to the popular high-goal matches.”

This year’s high-goal season will feature 16-goal teams vying for the highest-rated tournament championships on the West Coast. Building on the success of last year’s 16-goal season, the Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club will be concentrating on providing perfect conditions for polo for the teams competing in these legendary tournaments. For 2016 the high-goal schedule has been revised to a tidy two months long. This will make it easier for traveling teams to journey to the West Coast and enjoy rain-free polo with an ocean view, leading up to the grand finale of the Gulfstream Pacific Coast Open championship final Aug. 28.

“For the 2016 season, we are intent on providing each team that competes here with a complete experience so they can focus on their play and their horses. We will have an improved field rotation and on-site stabling for traveling teams. Practice is provided, and each team that comes to play will know they all have a fair shot at the title of these amazing tournaments,” commented polo manager Melanja Jones.

The club is delighted to have the support and backing of the United States Polo Association (USPA) behind these premier tournaments and is honored to have partnerships with elite corporate partners Belmond El Encanto, Maserati, Nespresso and Gulfstream.
