Minnesota Crookston Western Equestrian Falls 9-1 at UT-Martin

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston western equestrian team fell to University of Tennessee Martin 9-1 Fri., Feb. 15 at the Ned McWherter Agricultural Pavilion in Martin, Tenn.

The Golden Eagles had six student-athletes compete. UMN Crookston was led by Alyssa Evavold who scored a 77 in Horsemanship to win her point for the team. She displayed a high degree of difficulty on her pattern helping to ignite an impressive spark of confidence in her skills. Adrianne Schauman scored 72.5 and had a confident ride in her debut in Horsemanship. April Klecker put up a score of 70 in the Reining.

“The Reining challenged us greatly, but the athletes took away homework that we look forward to schooling through the next two weeks in our preparation for our doubleheader against South Dakota State and Delaware State University” said Head Coach Kayla Hanson. “Overall I was very happy with the rides, especially in Horsemanship.”

The Golden Eagles will compete in an IHSA western home show at UTOC at the University of Minnesota Crookston Sat., Feb. 20 and Sun., Feb. 21.
