NRHA European Affiliate Youth are crowned in Kreuth

For Immediate Release – July 28, 2018 – Kreuth – A youthful morning made the start of the day special at the 2018 National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) European Affiliate Championship held concurrently with the NRHA European Derby.

High scores and great rides thrilled the crowd in the stands as the young riders performed in the Ostbayernhalle. It took a 216 to win the EA Youth 14-18 Championship and that is what Nimroid Vannietvelt of Belgium posted riding Wimpys Snow Step in a field of 32 entries. The 10-year-old gelding is by NRHA Ten Million Dollar Sire Wimpys Little Step out of Snow Gun and is owned by his mother, Gina De Pauw.  “I’ve been showing my horse for almost three years and he’s really nice,” said the young rider. “I’ve taken part in quite a few European Affiliate Championships and this edition has been great. I am really happy to have won here for the first time and I have to give credit to my trainer, [NRHA Million Dollar Rider] Bernard Fonck who is an amazing coach.”

Tying for reserve honors were Tabitha Sternberg Allen of Great Britain and Estelle Sole of France. Sternberg Allen rode FS Gunner Got Lucky (Gunner x My Lucky Moonstone), a 7-year-old gelding owned by her mother, Francesca Sternberg. Sole rode her own RS Bloody Mary Spat (Spat Olena x RS Hollywood Hglo), a 2010 stallion. Both riders scored a 213.

Winning her first NRHA European Affiliate Championship title was Anna Dombrowska of Poland riding Tarigenetics (Lean With Hollywood x Tarilena Oky Doc). Aboard the 2012 gelding, the 14-year-old scored a 214.5. “I went to see the Affiliate Championships in Poland last year at Roleski Ranch for the first time last year and I still cannot believe that I actually won,” said an emotional Anna. “My horse is truly special; he gave me all he had and I would like to thank my trainer [NRHA Professional] Adrian Motyka for being there for me all the time and all the Roleski team … my second family.”

Francesca Ferrarol of Italy slid to the second step of the podium riding Let Dry Peppy (Let Me Out Please x Dry Peppy King), owned by her father Maurizio Ferrarol. The pair scored a 210 and the young Italian rider was thrilled with her companion in the arena that she has been showing successfully since the beginning of last year.

Tying for third place with a 208 were Selina Pernsteiner of Austria and Silke Hendrix of Belgium. The Austrian rider rode her own SSL Golden Mercury (Smart Slide Lena x Soda Nic Miss). Hendrix guided Twisted Lil Chic (Smart Chic Olena x Chocolate N Sweet) owned by Jan Hendrix to the third step of the podium.

The Youth Team Tournament

The NRHA Affiliate Youth Team Tournament, with 16 participating teams, took place during the NRHA EAC Youth 13 & Under and NRHA EAC Youth 14-18 classes. Three teams shared the spotlight with 628 points each! Congratulations to our champions:
