A branded BLM Mustang, Liam was purchased via an “internet auction” held by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). The bidders were ill prepared for a young Mustang stallion but because they had purchased a young mare a couple years previous, they decided they wanted a “puppy” and to do so required an intact male.

Fast forward 2 years and a colt was born. Neither dam nor sire had been halter trained. They were willing to come for feed and would allow some handling but they had never been taught anything of significance. And now veterinary intervention was needed to prevent the mare from being rebred in foal heat. When the owners were informed that they needed to keep the mare and stallion apart for 4 months post-castration, they had no facilities to do so and asked Rainbow Meadows if they would take Liam. Sadly, the same lack of training continues with the mare and the new foal who will attempt to breed his dam at as early as 10 months of age if nothing changes.

However, Liam now has a future. He is an incredible horse with a great mind and a kind eye.
