 Oklahoma City, Okla., (Sept. 22, 2016) – The National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) is pleased to announce an exhilarating reining event to take place during the 2016 NRHA Futurity & Adequan® North American Affiliate Championship. Formally known as the NRHA World Championship Shootout, the competition falls under a new name and adds an exciting team component for its return to the NRHA Futurity. See which team will “rein” supreme during the $50,000 Silver Spurs Equine Team Challenge on Thursday, December 1st at 7 p.m. in the Jim Norick Arena in Oklahoma City.

$50,000 Silver Spurs Equine Team Challenge Conditions

In the Silver Spurs Equine Team Challenge, exhibitors will run in a regular NRHA class with the highest scoring run winning the competition. As an added bonus, riders will compete in teams to ride for an additional $10,000 to be disbursed evenly among teammates.

Once all entries are received, team captains will be selected based on their earnings in 2016.  Team captains will then pick their teams one by one. Each rider will ride against the opposing team in the order they were picked. The rider who receives the highest score in that round, will receive a point for their team. If, at any point in the competition, riders end up in a tie, one-half point will be given to both teams. Not only will this Team Challenge foster friendly competition among riders, but also comradery via this unique competition only seen at the NRHA Futurity.
