First annual WING FLING lands in Fargo next week
Local chefs creating special rubs and sauces just for the May 14 event

FARGO — More than 34,000 wings will fly into Fargo to be basted, rubbed and sauced to perfection by eight of the FM’s favorite bars and restaurants competing for the title of “Best Wings” at the first ever Fargo Spring Wing Fling on Saturday, May 14 at the North Dakota Horse Park.

Eight local restaurants/bars are creating their own wing sauce or rub recipes for the event that will feature a people’s choice award and celebrity judging. Ticket holders get the chance to give one local wing connoisseur bragging rights by voting for it’s wing recipe.  This year’s participants are: Brickhouse Taverns, Dempsey’s, Herd & Horns, Labby’s, Rookie’s, Shotgun Sally’s, Sickie’s & Sidestreet Catering.

Admission is free to this premiere event, however if you want the wing experience, tickets will run $9 or $18 and will also include a few favorite food trucks of Fargo, live entertainment, and more.

North Dakota Horse Park General Manager Mike Schmitz said he plans to make this year’s Wing Fling an annual event, spreading the number of local restaurants participating every year.  “We’re planning for over 34,000 wings and know that the closest Wing Festival in the 3 State area sells 35,000 wings. We’re excited that within a year or two we could become the biggest Wing Fest in the Dakotas and Minnesota.

Wing passes are $9 or $18 and due to high demand, the passes, which allow you to try each of the local recipes, should be bought beforehand. Tickets are still available at: fmwingfling.brownpapertickets.com
